2006 Hong Kong Arts Festival Launched

The 2006 Hong Kong Arts Festival Kick-off Press Conference was held on 18 October, announcing details on the 48 different programmes which will be presented from 9 February through 12 March 2006. The press conference was attended by close to 200 guests and more than 60 members of the press.

The press conference was hosted by Mr Charles Lee, Chairman of Hong Kong Arts Festival Society; Mr Douglas Gautier, Executive Director; and Ms Grace Lang, Programme Director.  There were guests from the arts community, and the supporting and sponsoring organisations.  Local artists who are participating in the 2006 Festival also attended the press conference.  They included the cast of The Unexpected Man, Mr Chung King-fai and Ms Sheren Tang, and Director, Tang Wai-kit; actors and the creative team of Actors' Family's The Legend of the White Snake; singer-songwriter Pong Nan; leading actress Ng May Ying of 'The Artistry of Gender Switching in Cantonese Opera'; and 15 bright ascending stars of 'Cantonese Opera - New Stars' who came with Artistic Director, Mr Yuen Siu-fai, and Project Executive, Ms Barbara Tang.  Journalists were enthusiastic and eager to know more about the exciting programmes to be staged by these artists.
