2007 Hong Kong Arts Festival Advance Sales Break Records! Counter Booking begins Saturday (9 December)

The five-week advance booking period for the 2007 Hong Kong Arts Festival has now come to an end. Response has been strong; over 7,300 advance booking forms were received. Over 45% of the total capacity is already sold, accounting for 45% of projected total box office. This sets a new record for advance sales. Patrons continued to make use of the quick and convenient electronic booking facility, with over two-thirds of the advance bookings placed via the Internet.

Tickets going fast!

Counter booking for tickets will open from 10:00am on Saturday, 9 December from all URBTIX outlets. For the first time patrons can book their tickets online through URBTIX's website www.urbtix.hk.

Extra shows

As a result of the strong demand the Festival is delighted to announce extra shows. There will be one additional matinee performance of the Kun Opera – The Peach Blossom Fan (1699) on the 25 February (2:00pm), one additional evening performance of The Actors' Gang – 1984 on the 28 February (8:00pm) and one additional evening performance of the Soweto Gospel Choir on the 25 March (8:00pm).

Top 12 Best Sellers

Based on the actual number of tickets sold, the top 12 favourite programmes are: Welsh National Opera – La boheme, Yuri Simonov and the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, Tango Buenos Aires, The Great Mass, Feria Musica – Le Vertige du Papillon, The Actors' Gang – 1984, Soweto Gospel Choir, Propeller – The Taming of the Shrew + Twelfth Night, Kun Opera – The Peach Blossom Fan (1699), Sylvie Guillem in Akram Khan's Sacred Monsters, Camut Band – Life is Rhythm and Shu Ning Presentation Unit – And Then There's You.

There are only a limited number of remaining tickets to the following much sought after performances: Soweto Gospel Choir, Feria Musica, Propeller, Yuri Simonov and the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, Zhu Lin and Colleen Lee Cello & Piano Duo, 1984, Sacred Monsters, The Great Mass, La boheme, Kun Opera – The Peach Blossom Fan (1699) and All Theatre Company: YuYu MiMi – A Love Story. Tickets to the above performances are scarce so act fast!

How to Book

Fans and Festival goers who have not yet booked their seats will be able to purchase the remaining tickets over the counter at URBTIX outlets or through the URBTIX Internet Ticketing Service www.urbtix.hk from the end of this week onwards. Tickets to performances at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Fringe Club will also be available from HK Ticketing outlets or through its web site at www.hkticketing.com.

As well as booking tickets over the counter, patrons can also order their Festival tickets on the following hotlines from 9 December:
