Advance Sales Reaches 56% Counter Booking Begins Saturday (1 December)

The five-week advance booking period for the 2008 Hong Kong Arts Festival has now come to an end. The response has been extremely positive; over 8,500 advance booking forms were received. Over 56% of the total seating capacity has already been sold. This sets a new all time record for advance sales. The Festival also announces extra shows of key performances.
Tickets are going fast!
Our counter booking of tickets will open at 10:00am on Saturday, 1 December at all URBTIX outlets. Tickets to performances at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts will also be available from HK Ticketing outlets. Patrons can book their tickets online at URBTIX's website www.urbtix.hk or at HK Ticketing website www.hkticketing.com.
Extra shows are scheduled!
As a result of the popular demand for seats the Festival is delighted to announce extra shows of key performances. There will be one additional matinee performance of Fragments on the 17 February (3:00pm); one additional matinee performance of Hiromi's Sonicbloom – Time Control on 24 February (3:00pm); one additional evening performance of ExxonMobil Vision – Pius Cheung Marimba Recital on 24 February (8:15pm); and two additional performances of The Shape of Things on the 9 March (3:00pm) and 17 March (7:45pm).
The Top 12 Best Sellers
Based on the actual number of tickets sold, the top 12 favourite programmes are: Stuttgart Ballet; Teatro Regio di Parma – Verdi: Rigoletto; Pina Bausch Tanztheater Wuppertal – Vollmond; New York Philharmonic; The Shape of Things; London Philharmonic Orchestra; Ornette Coleman; National Theatre of Great Britain – Chatroom+Citizenship; Hungarian State Folk Ensemble – Hungarian Concerto; London Philharmonic Choir; American Repertory Theatre – Orpheus X; and The Master Builder.
How to Book
Fans and Festival goers who have not yet booked their seats can purchase their tickets over the counter at URBTIX outlets or through the URBTIX Internet Ticketing Service www.urbtix.hk, from the end of this week onwards. Tickets to performances at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts will also be available from HK Ticketing outlets, or through its web site at www.hkticketing.com.
As well as booking tickets over the counter, from 1 December onwards patrons can also order their Festival tickets via the following hotlines from 1 December:

The Festival Programme & Booking Guide is available at all URBTIX outlets. Free copies of the Festival CD samplers with audio excerpts of selected programmes can be picked up from the Festival Information Counters located at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and Hong Kong City Hall (while stock lasts).
