The 37th Hong Kong Arts Festival Over 50% of Tickets Sold Counter Booking Begins Saturday (6 December)

The 37th Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF), which opens in February 2009, ends its six-week advance booking last Friday (28 November). Over 9,500 advance booking forms were received and over 50% of all tickets have been sold. This exceeds last year’s advance booking figures for the same period, showing that the demand for HKAF tickets remains strong.

Extra shows

HKAF is delighted to offer three additional shows. There will be one additional performance of Metamorphosis on 22 February (5:00pm); one additional matinee performance of Murder in San Jose on 8 March (3:00pm); and one additional evening performance of Lisa Ono – A Celebration of 50 Years of Bossa Nova on 9 March (8:00pm).

The Top 12 Best Sellers

Tickets for Wang Jian plays Bach @ IFC55 and Tim Crouch’sEngland are sold out. Based on the actual number of tickets sold, the top 12 favourite programmes are: English National Ballet: Alice in Wonderland, Pygmalion directed by Peter Hall, National Ballet of China: The Peony Pavilion, Shanghai Yueju Opera Theatre, Bernard Haitink and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lisa Ono: A Celebration of 50 Years of Bossa Nova, In-I: Co-directed and performed by Juliette Binoche and Akram Khan, Latvian National Opera: Alcina, Metamorphosis, Murder in San Jose, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and Latvian National Opera: Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk.

Counter booking

Counter bookings of tickets will open at 10:00am on Saturday, 6 December atall URBTIX outlets. Tickets to performances at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Hong Kong Fringe Club will also be available at all HK Ticketing outlets.

How to Book

Fans and Festival goers who have not yet booked their seats can purchase their tickets over the counter at URBTIX outlets or through the URBTIX Internet Ticketing Service www.urbtix.hk, from the end of this week. Tickets to performances at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Hong Kong Fringe Club will also be available from HK Ticketing outlets, or through its website at www.hkticketing.com.

Free copies of the Festival CD samplers with audio excerpts of selected programmes can be picked up from the Festival Information Counters located at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and Hong Kong City Hall (while stock lasts).
