Credit Suisse Sponsors Hong Kong Arts Festival Emerging Artists Series

Hong Kong, February 4, 2009 Credit Suisse and the Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF) jointly announced today that they have entered into an exclusive three-year partnership, which will see Credit Suisse stand as the title sponsor of HKAF’s first-ever “Emerging Artists Series”.

The Credit Suisse Emerging Artists Series comprises performances by some of the most impressive young talent representing different art forms. These featured artists have launched career on international stages and attracted the interest of international audiences. The Series provides a platform for the featured artists to showcase their inspiration, creativity and talent during the HKAF.

This year, the Series will showcase bass-baritone Shenyang, who was the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2007; Trey Lee, who was the winner of the Elle Style Awards Musician of the Year 2007; and Dick Wong, renowned Hong Kong contemporary dance choreographer.

“We are delighted to be able to extend and consolidate our support for exciting new talent with this partnership. This is about building for the future, it is cultural heritage in the making,” said Tisa Ho, Executive Director of the HKAF.

“We are very proud to be supporting the HKAF, and in particular, its efforts to provide a platform for gifted emerging artists to showcase their talent in such an internationally renowned event. The 37th HKAF is running from 6 February to 8 March 2009. With over 150 performances and related events, this annual celebration of the arts is a major highlight in Asia and an excellent display of the world’s top talent and an important platform for promising local and international talent.

Credit Suisse has been an active supporter of the arts, fostering partnerships with institutions around the globe, including the Beijing Music Festival, Singapore Art Museum, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Shanghai Museum, National Gallery London, Lucerne Festival, Salzburg Festival and the New York Philharmonic.

Hong Kong Arts Festival
