Hong Kong Arts Festival announces an unprecedented re-run Murder in San José is back on stage in August and September

April 22nd, 2009

The Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF) announces today the unprecedented venture of re-running the HKAF-commissioned theatre production Murder in San José from 27 August to 6 September 2009 (except 1 September 2009).

Murder in San José is a finely written psychological thriller by the award-winning playwright Chong Mui-ngam (three-time winner of the Best Script Award at the Hong Kong Drama Award). Directed by renowned actor-director Lee Chun-chow and performed by three of the Hong Kong’s most celebrated actors, Murder in San José has won much critical acclaim from the media. All seven performances in the premiere run in March during 2009 HKAF were sold out almost instantly.

This re-run serves to meet unsatisfied audience demand and gives this commissioned work a season beyond its HKAF premiere. It is the first time that the HKAF presents a production outside the usual Festival dates. Ten re-run performances will be staged between 27 August to 6 September (there will be no show on 1 September). Original leading actors Alice Lau, Tang Wai-kit and Kearen Pang reunite in all ten performances.
