The 40th Hong Kong Arts Festival 2012 Advance Sales Set A New Record With Over 10,000 booking forms Counter Booking Begins Saturday 3 December 2011 Additional Performances Announced

The 40th Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF) once again had strong audience support with over 10,000 booking forms received by the close of advance sales. To be staged in 17 different venues with the main part held over 45 days — from 28 January to 8 March — with additional performances in September 2011 and April 2012, the 40th HKAF presents 166 performances in total featuring 38 ensembles or solo artists from overseas and 16 from Hong Kong.

Additional Performances

Due to popular response, the HKAF is delighted to offer six additional performances: two performances of The Wild Boar on 12 & 19 February (3:00pm); two performances of Show Flat on 19 & 26 February (3:00pm); one performance of Faith Healer on 4 March (3:00pm); plus a performance of Journey to Home on 12 February (3:00pm), adding up to a total of 172 performances.

12 Top-Selling Programmes

Based on the current number of tickets sold, the 10 top-selling programmes include: The Wild Boar, Rose Theatre’s The Importance of Being Earnest, Bavarian State Opera’s Cosi Fan Tutte, The Truth About Lying, World of WearableArt, Show Flat, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo’s Le Songe, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, The Hamburg Ballet, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Theatre des Bouffes du Nord A Magic Flute and Lyon Opera Ballet.

Booking Opens on 3 December 2011

Counter bookings open at 10:00am local time on Saturday 3 December at all URBTIX outlets. Tickets to performances at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts will also be available at all HK Ticketing outlets.

The Festival Programme & Booking Guide

The Festival Programme & Booking Guide is available at all URBTIX outlets. Free copies of the Festival DVD/DVD-Rom which contains video and audio excerpts of selected programmes can be picked up from the Festival Information Counters located at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and Hong Kong City Hall (while stock lasts). An updated version of the 2012 iPhone App also gives quick access to video and audio clips, as well as full programme details, photos, ticketing availability and venue directions.
