Hong Kong Arts Festival won Best Supporting Actress Award at the 21st Hong Kong Drama Awards

The Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF) 2011 commissioned production An Ordinary Man won the Best Supporting Actress Award (Drama/Tragedy) at the 21st (2012) Hong Kong Drama Awards last night.
Veteran actress He Yingqiong was awarded the honour for her performance as the widow and ailing mother in the production. Ms Tisa Ho, Executive Director of HKAF, said, “We are thrilled that He Yingqiong has received this award and recognition in her first collaboration with the Festival. I take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this production. With continued support from the community, we look forward to staging more exciting new works in the future.”
Premiered in the 39th HKAF in 2011 and directed and written by Poon Chan-leung, An Ordinary Man is a searching portrait of a young man forced to find himself in the face of mortality. Featuring a stellar cast including, Louisa So, Ho Yingqiong, Dora Wong, Roy Szeto, Angus Chan and Cheung Kam-ching, who also won a best actor award in another production this year, it received critical acclaim in 21 sold out performances.
HKAF New Works Scheme
The HKAF New Works Scheme invests in local works and builds a foundation for the performing arts by commissioning or producing new works each year, including the publication of new scripts. Previous award-winning HKAF commissioned productions include Murder in San Jose (2009), The Truth About Lying (2010) and An Ordinary Man (2011).
