The 40th Hong Kong Arts Festival 2012 Completed with an attendance of 95.9%

The 40th Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF) came to a close on 22 April 2012 with the completion of the last two drama productions Titus Andronicus 2012 and The Truth About Lying (Re-run).

The final average attendance of the 170 performances increased to nearly 95.9% with a total of over 131,800 tickets sold. Total audience number exceeded 150,900, including 19,108 Young Friends Scheme participants. The total number of tickets available at the box office was updated to 137,498. The Festival saw 144 performances with attendance at well over 90%, and among them 127 were capacity houses.

Highlights of the 41st HKAF line-up already announced include: the American Ballet Theatre’s Romeo and Juliet; the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Riccardo Muti; Les Musiciens du Louvre under the baton of Marc Minkowski; the Australian Chamber Orchestra led by Richard Tognetti; Einstein on the Beach, an opera in Four Acts by Robert Wilson and Philip Glass; La Traviata and Il Marito Disperato by Teatro di San Carlo, Naples; as well as a performance by Jordi Savall. More programme highlights will be announced in August and Advance Booking of the 41st HKAF will commence in October.
