The 48th Hong Kong Arts Festival
Cancellation of Programmes Affected by Venue Closures

(3 February 2020, Hong Kong)

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced that performance venues will remain closed until 17 February 2020. The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) has also officially cancelled all performances until 16 February 2020. As a consequence of the venue closure, the Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF) will not be able to present scheduled performances on these dates (please refer to Appendix 1). Related PLUS events (please refer to Appendix 2) originally scheduled in the same period will also be cancelled.

The HKAF deeply regrets these cancellations. Ms Tisa Ho, Executive Director of the HKAF, says, “The Hong Kong Arts Festival is one of the most significant events in Hong Kong’s cultural calendar. Along with our audiences, we eagerly anticipate the performances resulting from hard work and strong contributions of so many, including our staff, participating artists and other stake holders. We will do our best to present as much of the Festival as possible, either as scheduled or with unavoidable postponement. That said, the health and safety of our audience, artists and staff must remain our top priority. We hope the current epidemic will be brought under control soon, and also hope that all stakeholders will support the Festival - and all partners in the performing arts sector - to weather the storm.”
